Does ShowTaxi host my audio?
No, ShowTaxi doesn't host your audio - you do that yourself. If you've already been doing your podcast and you've been placing your episodes on a server somewhere, nothing will change - you'll just place your episodes in a special directory on that server from now on. [back to the top]
I don't have a server I can put a PHP script on. Can you help!
We sure can. We've partnered with DreamHost to get you the server space you need at a low monthly rate. [back to the top]
I have more than one podcast. Do I need more than one ShowTaxi account?
No. You just need one account, and you can manage the subscriptions for as many podcasts as you have. And if you decide to create another podcast, you just add that podcast to your ShowTaxi account, at no cost whatsoever. [back to the top]
Is PayPal your only payment processor?
Yes, we do all of our fee transfers via PayPal. It makes things very easy for you and your listeners, and it's able to be used by more people than any other process. Also, even if your subscribers don't have a PayPal account, they can use any credit card on the PayPal site, without giving PayPal their personal information or opening up an account. Do my podcasts have to be MP3s?
Not at all. You can use any format that you want. Bear in mind that not all computers will play certain formats, but if your subscriber base is aware that you've chosen Windows Media or AAC or QuickTime for your format, you'll be fine - they'll seek out the player software they need to hear or view your episodes. What do people charge for monthly subscriptions?
That's completely up to you. Lots of people charge between 5 and 10 dollars for a weekly podcast, some charge less. Some charge a lot more money per month if the content is extremely valuable, or the audience is well-funded. Consider that radio traditionally charges around 10 a month for private "listener clubs" where they have access to daily content, while other podcasts on business strategies and high level marketing strategies might be worth $100-300 a month. You get to set the price, and see how your audience reacts. [back to the top]
Do my podcasts have to be audio? Can they be video?
Your podcasts can be whatever you want: audio, video, flash or any other format you want. ShowTaxi handles them all. [back to the top]
Does ShowTaxi allow their services to be used by adult podcasts?
We don't really care what you do with your podcast - and that includes adult content. Podcasting is about freedom of expression, and freedom from government oversight and intervention. If you actually break United States law, like any other vendor, we'll probably be told about it and we'll cancel your account. But you'll be in jail anyway, so you probably won't notice. But for all you law-abiding hotties, ShowTaxi welcomes your podcasts. [back to the top]
Does ShowTaxi allow their services to be used by gambling podcasts? Religious podcasts? Controversial subject matter?
Again, we don't really care what your podcast is about, controversial, religious, revolutionary or just a simple wrap up of your day. Just don't break United States law with your content: promoting having sex with children, defrauding the public, stealing or promoting the theft of intellectual or physical property, threatening individuals with harm and so on. Other than those, you're cool. [back to the top]
